Why RestifEye
Strict enough to matter.
Polite enough to keep.
Other break apps show you a countdown and hope you stretch. RestifEye shows you exactly what to do — and never interrupts a meeting to do it.
Guided exercises, not blank timers
Every break shows an animated exercise — eye movements, neck stretches, shoulder rolls, posture resets, or full-body moves. Choose your intensity: seated-only for the office, anything-goes at home.
Never interrupts a meeting
Microphone or camera in use? Do Not Disturb on? Breaks wait — up to a hard cap, so waiting can't quietly become skipping.
Credits breaks you already took
Walked away, locked your screen, suspended? That was your break. RestifEye notices and never nags for rest you already had.
Everything from the notification
A 30-second heads-up before every break with Start now, Snooze, and Skip right in the notification — decide without breaking focus.
Local analytics & advice
Screen time, focus stretches, and break compliance — weekly, monthly, yearly — with practical advice computed from your own patterns, on your machine.
Private by architecture
No accounts, no cloud, no telemetry. One optional weekly update check — that is the entire network story, and you can turn it off.
How it works
Out of your way, until it shouldn't be
It starts with your computer
RestifEye launches at login and sits quietly in your tray. Eye breaks every 20 minutes, movement breaks every 50 — every interval is yours to tune.
A heads-up, not an ambush
30 seconds before each break you get a notification. Start it now, snooze it, or skip it — within the budgets you set for yourself.
A real break, with a real exercise
The break screen shows an animated figure guiding you through an eye exercise, a stretch, or a posture reset — picked for your intensity setting. Emergencies happen: a 3-second hold always lets you out.
Your patterns, your advice
Dashboards show screen time and focus stretches; a rule engine turns four weeks of history into concrete, judgment-free suggestions.

FAQ
Questions, answered honestly
Does it phone home?
No. There are no accounts and no telemetry. The only network request RestifEye can make is an optional weekly version check, and you can switch it off in Settings.
Can I escape a strict break in an emergency?
Always. Hold the escape button for three seconds and the break ends. It goes on your own stats — accountability to yourself, not to us.
Will it interrupt my presentation or call?
No. While your microphone or camera is in use, or Do Not Disturb is on, due breaks are deferred. A hard cap (15 minutes by default) makes sure deferral can't become denial.
How do I know it's running?
A tray icon with a small menu (open, pause, quit). Closing the window keeps RestifEye running in the background; launching it again reopens the same instance.
Wayland or X11?
Both. RestifEye is developed Wayland-first on Fedora GNOME and uses desktop-portal-friendly D-Bus APIs — no X11-only hacks that break on modern sessions.
Is it really free?
Yes — free on Linux, forever. A paid macOS and Windows version may come later; the Linux app stays free.
